Sages, Cynics & Lovers: The Many Voices of Biblical Wisdom

We all need wisdom, but sometimes we don't know where to look. And while the Bible is sometimes presented as a book full of answers, it chooses instead to give us a chorus of voices—some frustrated, some helpful, some skeptical, and some deeply poetic.

In Proverbs, we meet the sage, urging us toward the good life rooted in God’s design. In Job, we read about a man taking every bit of his pain and frustration to God and crying out, "why?" In Ecclesiastes, the cynic reminds us that life on its own is fleeting and full of unsatisfying experiences. And in Song of Songs, the lovers sing of passion, intimacy, and joy as part of God’s wisdom, too.

Together, these voices don’t compete—they complete one another, painting a fuller picture of what it means to live well before God. This series invites us to listen to each voice and discover wisdom that is honest, grounded, and surprisingly relevant to the lives we’re living right now.
