Beliefs

There are so many important ideas and doctrines in the Scriptures. However, there is a short list of essential ideas that we are all unified around as followers of Jesus. Below you’ll find summaries of each of those doctrines.

Scripture

The Scriptures are true, trustworthy, and authoritative for followers of Jesus. They were authored by human beings and inspired by the Holy Spirit. They together tell a unified story that points to Jesus.

Trinity

God exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Humanity

Humans were created as image bearers of God, intended to live in right relationship with him.

Sin

All human beings are sinful from birth and by conscious choice. Sin breaks our relationship with God, ourselves, each other, and the world in general.

Jesus

Jesus is the son of God, both fully human and fully God. He lived a perfect life, free from sin.

Cross

Jesus suffered and died on the cross for the sin of humanity, paying the penalty for their sin.

Resurrection

After dying on the cross, Jesus physically resurrected, accomplishing victory over Satan, sin, and death.

Ascension & Return

Jesus physically ascended into heaven, and one day will return to judge the living and the dead.

New Creation

Just as Jesus rose from the dead, all humanity who are in Christ will also be resurrected. Those who follow Jesus will reign forever with him in the new heavens and new earth.

Hell

Those who do not follow Jesus will experience eternal separation from him.

Salvation

Only by trusting in the person and work of Jesus Christ can we be in right relationship with God.
