City Youth is our student ministry for all 6th through 12th grade students. We meet on Sunday nights at our building, downstairs in the youth room from 6:00pm-7:30pm.

Our mission for youth ministry is the same as that of City Church: We exist to be a Jesus-centered family on mission. The key difference is that we contextualize that mission so that it works for youth.

  • Jesus-Centered: We want to help students love Jesus, believe the gospel, and view the world the way that Jesus does. They care about social media, personal identity, and mental health. We want to help them see how the bible can direct those passions to helpful ends.

  • Family: Teenagers need healthy followers of Jesus to look up to. We provide this by connecting them to their own LifeGroups with spiritually mature leaders, and by partnering with parents to disciple their students.

  • On Mission: This is a generation that is willing to live out what they believe. We want them to learn how to engage the world with the truth of the gospel.

We look forward to meeting your students and getting them connected with a family of faith that truly cares about them.

Planning a Visit?

Planning on coming to City Youth for the first time? Here’s some info that may be helpful:

When you arrive, please feel free to park in the lot on Atchley Street right next to the church. From there, you can enter through the side entrance and go right downstairs to the Youth Room (you can reference the map below). When you get here, someone from our team will help you get checked in and will introduce you to your LifeGroup leader!

Frequently Asked Questions

We know that there are a lot of questions when you start going to a new youth ministry for the first time. Below are some answers to some frequently asked questions. If any of your questions don’t get answered, feel free to reach out!

What do students do at City Youth?

While at City Youth, we’re going to eat together, play games, listen to biblical teaching, and most importantly, spend time in LifeGroups, doing life together.

Who will be leading at City Youth?

City Youth is led by our Director of Youth and College Ministries, Jordan Gaut. He is assisted by adult leaders who are passionate about discipling the next generation. Before serving, all of our leaders must pass a federal background check, as well as go through an onboarding process that will determine if they’re a good fit to serve with 6th-12th grade students.

When does City Youth meet?

City Youth meets on Sunday nights at 6:00pm. It’s important to note that our programming follows the Knox County School calendar, so if they are on a break, so are we.

Is City Youth a secure environment?

City Youth requires all leaders and students to check in on Sunday nights. We also do not allow any adult to enter our environment unless they are being escorted by staff or have passed a background check in order to be there.

Are parents allowed to come to City Youth?

Because City Youth is a secure environment, we ask that parents drop their kids off and not come to the environment with them. If a parent wishes to tour the space, reach out and we would love to pair you with a staff or volunteer who can show you and your students around.
